Where does Elettaria Cart's cardamom come from?
Our cardamom is grown and harvested on our own family estate in the Idukki hills of Kerala — one of the few regions in the world with a Geographical Indication (GI) tag for cardamom cultivation. We sell directly from farm to customer, with no middlemen or bulk traders involved.
What's the difference between 7MM and 8MM cardamom?
The number refers to pod size — 8MM pods are larger, bolder, and slightly more aromatic, making them ideal for biryani, festive cooking, and gifting. 7MM is our everyday-premium grade, perfect for daily tea, curries, and general cooking at a more accessible price point.
Is your cardamom 100% natural?
Yes. Our cardamom is grown without harmful chemical shortcuts, hand-sorted, and sold with no additives, fillers, or artificial colouring — just cardamom, exactly as harvested.
What's the difference between Whole Cardamom Powder and Seed-Only Powder?
Whole Cardamom Powder is ground from the entire pod (shell included), giving a balanced, traditional flavour. Seed-Only Powder is made purely from the seeds, giving a more concentrated, stronger cardamom taste — popular for desserts and spice blends where potency matters.
How should I store cardamom to keep it fresh?
Keep pods, seeds, or powder in an air tight container, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Whole pods retain their aroma the longest; ground powder is more sensitive to air exposure, so smaller resealable batches work best if you don't use it daily.

How fresh is the cardamom when I receive it?
Since we sell directly from our own estate, there's no long warehousing or multi-vendor supply chain in between — pods are processed and packed close to harvest, so what you receive is significantly fresher than typical retail-shelf cardamom.
What's the best cardamom product for chai?
Whole 7MM pods or Whole Cardamom Powder both work beautifully for chai — pods give a gentler infused flavour if simmered with the tea, while powder gives a quicker, stronger punch if you're short on time.
